The Larch
River Ure views, down a steep final slope 150m from the car.
Near Masham, North Yorkshire
Five off-grid cabins hidden in a quiet pine forest, looking out over the Wensleydale valley. Each sits on its own among the trees, with far-reaching views across the winding River Ure towards Jervaulx Abbey, an outdoor copper bath and a fire pit of its own.
No noise, no neighbours. Just tall pines, open sky and total quiet.
There’s no wifi and there are no plug sockets, by design. Every cabin has USB charging points, and power banks can be pre-ordered. Each is a short walk from the parking area, and some paths finish on a steep slope, so pack light.
Masham, with its pubs and two breweries, is ten minutes away, and the rest of the Dales opens up along the valley.

Three stepped falls on the River Ure, linked by easy woodland paths.
A 19th-century folly hidden in the woods above Ilton, built like a small Stonehenge. A good short dog walk.

You have to go there! We stayed in the Elm in the Yorkshire Dales and it was superb. The scenery is magnificent. A wonderful, relaxing stay.

We have visited Shropshire and the Yorkshire dales and recommend this to everyone who mentions they are looking for a complete recharge and isolation. Our fave feature is the outdoor baths and the sound of song birds. Can’t wait for our return visit to Yorkshire!

Did exactly what it said on the tin - fully rested in the wild! So peaceful, so beautiful and the perfect place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We stayed in Birch in the Yorkshire Dales. The cabin was perfectly decorated, brilliant amenities, so comfortable and had what we needed for a weekend away to relax!
